PICHAcurious has been an emotional journey. Starting in Kenya when I lived in Nairobi, it allowed me to develop and explore the world around me through photography. From street photography in the Arabic influenced Mombasa town, slum children in a school in Mathare, and charging elephants in the Savannah ... ‘Picha’ is the Swahili word for ‘picture’, and PICHAcurious represented my photography.
Kenya has been a treat for my eyes and the photographs I have will always remind me of a truly magical time in my life. On the commercial side I ranged from a waterlogged Oktoberfest event, a sun-infused beach wedding in Kilifi, food festivals, stunning luxe interiors for high end apartments, a TV channel launch near Mount Kenya, as well as many more enjoyable photo shoots.
I’ve come to realise that the photography that I love the most captures family moments, in particular those centered around children. The way they see the world always makes me smile and is what makes me want to photograph them. I want to capture those family moments so that you can enjoy them for many years to come.
So, it is because of this, and my move to Dubai, that I felt that it was time to say goodbye to PICHAcurious and launch Emma Staples Photography. It’s the beginning of a fresh focus (pun very much intended!) for me; one that allows me to celebrate family moments.
I will be launching the website soon and redirecting all the PICHA social media platforms.
Asante sana and thank you for all your love and support over the last few years. It has meant a lot to me and I hope to keep tickling you with Emma Staples Photography.
